L'histoire de cette pièce de collection...
Aerodynamics are for people who can’t build engines. – Enzo Ferrari
The Ferrari Dino 308 GT4, a Ferrari that brought many significant changes, but also closed. It was the last Ferrari Dino that was born and the Godfather (to stay in Italian terms) of Ferraris with a V8 mid-engine. The 360 challenge stradale, the 458 Speciale and the 488 Pista are all “nipoti” of our 308 GT4.
Incidentally, it was also the first Ferrari that did not come from the pen of Pininfarina, but from that of Bertone. The Dino was almost not sold at first because the Ferrari logo was not immediately visible on the car. After a recall action by Ferrari, where they replaced the ‘Dino emblem’ with the prancing thoroughbred, the then intended counterpart of the 911, started to gain traction on the market. Eventually, almost 3,000 units were born.
Is the 308 GT4 a real Ferrari? Yes. As soon as you get in, you notice that all the clocks are shaped around the driver and the eight-cylinder behind your back makes a wonderful sound. When you wake her up, you hear the cooling water splashing and the fuel pump humming. La meccanica dell’Emozione! The rising Modena steed has 255 hp and a dogleg 5-speed gearbox, which are perfectly matched to each other.
Ours is a blu scuro dino with beige leather and dark blue velvet on the inside. She has only driven 112 thousand kilometers and all her original (!) documentation is still present. As Enzo himself always said; ‘Too much is not enough’. We agree, so this one belongs in your collection. Do you already have one? Not enough, we will see you soon!
