L'histoire de cette pièce de collection...
This legendary car debuted at the 1972 Paris Motor Show and quickly became one of the greatest cars of all time. With a top speed that made it the fastest production 911, and its solid race record, many consider the Carrera RS to be the best 911 ever built.
The Carrera RS was built on the foundation of Porsche’s successful prototype and GT racing program based on the iconic 911. It was a homologation special that paved the way for a series of legendary racing Porsches. The Carrera 2.7 RS, with its flared wheel arches, signature ducktail spoiler and highly tuned flat-six, is the model by which all subsequent high-performance 911s are measured.
The 2.7-litre engine, which benefited from the experience gained from the 917 racing programme, put the 911 in the 2500-3000 cc class and put it in a position to take on heavyweight competitors such as Ferrari Daytonas and DeTomaso Panteras. The ducktail rear spoiler was the first real wing on a 911, the flared wheel arches allowed more rubber to come into contact with the road, and Porsche put the car on a diet, reducing its weight to just 975 kg.
The 2.7 RS delivers performance that is impressive even by modern standards and has inspired some of Porsche’s most iconic cars, including the GT2 RS and GT3 RS. It’s a fun, road-friendly 911 with real racing capabilities, and it set the tone for the way Porsche builds special racing models to this day.
The Carrera name hadn’t been used on road-racing Porsches for a decade, but it was new to the younger generation of Porsche fans in the 1970s. The name was revered because a Porsche had successfully competed in the famous Carrera Panamericana road race in Mexico in 1953 and 1954.
