In 1996, the Ferrari 550 Maranello was first presented to the public. A car that upheld many things, but also stopped pretending. For example, the 456's hamster rear seat disappeared and made way for a luggage compartment. A true two-seater for long distances, with temperament of an Italian who just walked out of the espresso bar. The 550's V12 is actually - a bit bipolar. Underneath, it's a wonderful car for touring and comfortable driving. However, once you turn on the 5.5 V12, your golf bag in the back goes to a hundred in 4.4 seconds and it pulls through to 320 km/h. FORE!
And then a word about that big chrome shifter in the middle ... That is ultimately, what we too do it for.... Every time you pull the beautiful gear lever along its aluminum guides, along with the typical "clack-clack" sound as you shift gears and hear the roar of the V12, you feel your chest hair grow. What a delicious thoroughbred! Skip legday at the gym from now on, the 550 provides you with nice spawn. God, how well those guys in Maranello can make you forget your rationality.... Well known even among test drivers and became the Engine of the Year in 2000 and 2001 (4.0l+).
