L'histoire de cette pièce de collection...
The Austin Healey MK 3000 is a car that we ourselves hold very dear. The basic principles of motoring; in the front a thick 2.9 litre 6-in-line engine with about 150 British horses, rear wheel drive, nice and stiff and a large steering wheel. The Spartan character makes it a real driver's car. There weren't many options; even the outside mirrors, cigarette lighter and spoked wheels were optional.
Between 1959 and 1967 Austin made 36.816 Healeys; the Mark I, Mark II and the one we welcomed in our clubhouse, the Mark III. The Mark I his coach was made by Jensen Motors and the assembly by BMC. Of the Mark III, 17,712 eventually rolled off the assembly line. Unfortunately, thanks to the birth of another British icon, production was discontinued in 1968. Austin needed all capacity for the immensely popular Austin Mini.
Our Healey is a beautiful specimen that breathes just enough patina. The MK3000 was owned for 21 years by its current owner, who drove it in the Scotland rally. Before that the car was owned by one of the presidents of the Healey Club Holland. Apart from the unique colour composition and original condition, the Austin has a lot of documentation. All this makes it a real British Cool Classic.
