Ford Cosworth Zetec V10R Formule 1 Motor

Jacky Stewart, Emerson Fittipaldi, James Hunt, Mario Andretti and several other famous drivers became world champions with a Ford Cosworth engine in their F1 car. The last to do this successfully in the V8 era was Michael Schumacher with the famous Benetton Ford in 1995.

The Formula 1 engine offered here is a Ford Zetec V10R built by Cosworth of the first generation introduced in 1996. Crankshaft and pistons are missing, so in technical jargon it is a dummy engine with racing history. A professionally drawn up Inspection Report is available.

Technical specifications: 2998 CC V10 at an angle of 72 degrees, twin cam cylinder heads with 4 valves per cylinder and a maximum speed of 17,000 rpm. The estimated power was around 750 HP but was never officially released by Cosworth.

These 1st generation Ford Cosworth V10 engines were delivered exclusively to the Sauber Petronas team with drivers Johnny Herbert and HH Frentzen in 1996. In 1997, the new team "Stewart Grand Prix" became Ford's exclusive partner and the Zetec V10R engines were further developed in close cooperation. The drivers for Stewart Grand Prix were Rubens Barichello and Jan Magnussen.

Despite the fact that several parts would still be usable for racing, the engine is offered as an ultimate piece of Formula 1 memorabilia. The carbon air intakes are a piece of high-tech engineering and the engine is complete with all important mounting and add-on parts, which is rare. The Cosworth Zetec V10R comes into its own on the original engine stand and truly deserves the title of “work of art”.
