Maserati Quattroporte S
Specifications
Regardless of where you are going. They will know you have arrived. In style obviously. – Maserati
After a rather long break Maserati came up with a new model Quattroporte in the early 2000s. One of the most beautiful Maserati’s ever made, practically usable and the heavenly sound of the Maser-trade mark; The 64-valve V8. What’s not to like?
Well, we can be fairly brief about that; The gearbox. The Italians thought it would be a good idea to mount the Ferrari’s own DuoSelect gearbox in the business sedan. Bulky, jerky and it shifted exactly when you didn’t want it. Also, the slightly ‘pinched’ nose became somewhat dated after a few years.
In 2007 Maserati came up with the redemption and in our opinion, the most beautiful Quattroporte ever made. Besides the subtle facelift, ZF interfered with the transmission. She went from a rough Italian with bone hair to a nicely balanced (and shaved) half-breed. The Italian character remained unchanged, but this variant (with a light German accent) also spoke with ‘u’. So nice for Christmas dinner.
Ours is of course a bit X-tra special. It has an X-pipe, sports exhausts and is made in one of the most beautiful colour combinations. The first owner did ‘no options not’ when ordering and maintained her dealer. In total she has delighted two owners and has enriched the street scene relatively few kilometres with her high singing.
The key to an extraordinary life is quite literally a key. Will we see you soon?
