Jaguar XJS Cabriolet
Specifications
The story behind this collectible...
The Jaguar XJS. A car that had a big and almost impossible task; succeeding the E-type. The XJS showed clear character changes compared to its predecessor. Where the E-type distanced itself with sportiness, the XJS placed comfort high on the agenda. Speed was not forgotten, however; where the E-type only got the 12 cylinder much later, the XJS was immediately equipped with the well-known 5.3 liter V12 block from Jaguar. The manual transmission was available for a while, but given the focus on luxury and comfort, it quickly disappeared again.
The V12 (Mark II) provided quite good specifications with 296 hp. The Jag drives to 100 in 6.3 seconds and has a top speed of over 250 km/h. In addition to the technical improvements of the Mark II, the exterior was also refreshed with chrome on the bumpers, new rims and wood inlay for the interior.
Our Jaguar XJS convertible is a real original Dutch delivered enthusiast car and has been in the possession of the first (!) owner until now. The first convertibles were built by an American company called Hess & Eisenhardt. This was because Jaguar itself was unable to build a decent convertible. After 1988 Jaguar dared to do it itself and even came up with a better convertible construction than its earlier variants. This together with the few kilometers (121,140 km), fully traceable history and condition; A unique driver's car that certainly belongs in our Cool Classics collection!
