The story behind this collectible...
Regardless of where you are going. They will know you have arrived. In style obviously.
- Maserati
After a somewhat long break, Maserati came up with a new Quattroporte model in the early 2000s. One of the most beautiful Maseratis ever made, practical and usable and the heavenly sound of the Maser-trade mark; The 64-valve V8. What’s not to like?
Well, we can be quite brief about that; The gearbox. The Italians thought it was a good idea to install Ferrari’s own DuoSelect gearbox in the business sedan. Clumsy, jerky and it shifted precisely when you didn’t want it to. The slightly ‘pinched’ nose also became a bit dated after a few years.
In 2007 Maserati came with the deliverance and in our opinion, the most beautiful Quattroporte ever made. In addition to the subtle facelift, ZF interfered with the transmission. She went from a rough Italian with leg hair to a beautifully balanced (and shaved) half-blood. The Italian character remained unchanged, however this variant (with a slight German accent) also spoke with 'u'. Very nice for the Christmas dinner.
Ours is of course a bit X-tra special. She has an X-pipe, sports exhausts and is finished in one of the most beautiful color combinations. The first owner did 'no options not' when ordering and had her dealer maintain it. In total she has delighted two owners and has enriched the streetscape with her high-pitched singing for relatively few kilometers.
The key to an extraordinary life is quite literally a key. See you soon?
