The story behind this collectible...
In the centre of the Orkans, peace reigns supreme. The 911 Turbo. -
A model in which many farewells were said and many more doors were opened. Welcome water cooling, aerodynamics and a completely new undercarriage. 4 valves per cylinder and the largest, lightest and of course fastest ‘standard’ Carrera ever. A 3.4 and soon after that even 3.6 litres of Stuttgart explosive power. Liquid-cooled and the first ‘non-Ferdinand approved’ 911. Will it turn around in its air-cooled heaven? We don’t think so.
In 1969, Porsche was already working on very unwise, life-threatening, but above all fun toys. For example, there was a 6.0 boxer ready on the shelf for the 917, with 770 Stuttgart horses (!). However, this remained in the play lab and never saw the light of day. What they did keep was the turbocharger. And that one, she used it eagerly, Greta!
And that one was used well in the water-cooled Metzger. -Metzger?- I hear you think. Yes, Hans Metzger, head of technical design of the 996 Turbo engine, built a completely different (cough -much better- cough) engine, without IMS bearing, to name but one. The 420 boosted Turbo horses kick the eleven under those 4 seconds to 100. Even with the new Golf 8 GTI at the traffic lights, you are safe from humiliation by a cap.
And ours? Yes. As it should be. Original paint all around (including some original stone chips), the still matt Porsche leather, fully dealer maintained and checked by our Porsche specialist, PSTG in Huizen. Low mileage, black black. In the beginning God created heaven and earth. Smart move.
- Was passiert, wenn man 24 Stunden lang Vollgas fährt? Anyway, it's a Porsche now. -
