In 1971, the new Pontiac came out. A car that was meant to be the S-Class of Mercedes cars; THE battleship that was meant to take Pontiac to the next level? How? Simple according to Mr. Roche; A 7.5 milk carton eight-cylinder big-block, 6 feet long with two doors that goes topless. A car that also thought of tree-huggers; No tree was cut down or cow died for the interior. It is an ode to man-made materials.
According to the original letter present with the car, on Feb. 22, 1971, Mr. Mosby in Missouri, took delivery of the Pontiac. In addition to being the largest model, he had quite a streak on the options list. So it came with the 455-4 block, power windows, power steering, power seats and air conditioning. A small 30% extra, but then, except for the cigarette lighters on the side of the front seats, it was full options.
Our Grandville was fully documented and restored at Oldschool Custom Works in Stuttgart in 2014. With all due respect to American restorations, but how glad we are that Germans have no sense of humor. Everything is superbly done, without putty. We dare say, better than new! The original 'tank sticker', the 'protector plate', booklets and delivery bill are still present with the car. Less miles but more smiles a litre. Will we see you soon?
