The story behind this collectible...
The Morris Mini Cooper S MKII needs no introduction.. Known for its brilliant engineering, rugged looks and unbeatable road holding. When the Cooper S was introduced, the Morris put everything old in the shade and became the new standard for hot-headed hatchbacks.
The Morris Cooper S 1275S mkII came out in 1967. This version had more power and actually more importantly; much more torque. The acceleration to 100 was more than 3 seconds faster than its predecessor. The top speed was screwed to 97 mph (155 km/h), or 100 mph (160 km/h), with the wind in the back and a brave driver...
Apart from the engine improvements, the mkII got larger front brake discs with steel wheels that provided cooling specifically
through the ventilation holes. It also got a double fuel tank, which made the range greater than ever before. All this together with the weight of 686 kg makes it a distinguished classic, which takes most corners with full throttle.
Our copy comes from Portugal and was purchased at CoolnVintage (Portugal) in 2016. The Morris has been completely restored and converted from a Cooper (1000 cc) to a full-fledged S (1275 cc). Apart from the changes underneath, there are spotlights (front and rear) and a roll cage mounted for rally driving. Incidentally, it was also involved in a photo shoot in Portugal with a beautiful lady, photos of which are available. The Cooper S replica has hardly been driven since the restoration and is in very good condition.
