The story behind this collectible...

- A car that covers every corner of cool

Sometimes you are beautifully painted, sometimes very cuddly in your suede. You always offer a firm grip and give clear direction… We are not talking about your beloved now, but something that an average classic car enthusiast often lets pass through his hands. Exactly. A Nardi steering wheel!

Enrico Nardi is a well-known name in the classic steering wheel world. What he is less known for, was his significant role in the 50s and 60s as an Italian 'tuning' company that built its own cars with a competitive heart. In 1956, Enrico designed the 750 Vignale Coupé Nardi based on the Fiat 600 chassis. The 600 cc Fiat block got a little more espresso and was bored out to 750cc. The body was designed by Michelotti who served for Vignale and everything was assembled at Nardi itself. End result? Dannatamente buono! So good, that Enrico himself competed with it; including the 1957 Mille Miglia!

Eventually, almost 50 were born, of which a few dozen remain. Ours comes from a rather special collection and has hardly treated its owner to flat-floor curves in the past fifteen years. Something she is more than happy to do, by the way. She was completely restored in Germany in the 1990s and is still in very good condition. Her Italian heart was completely overhauled at Fokker earlier this year and is now ready for much more petrol fun.

A presto!
