The story behind this collectible...
- They’ve invented the snooze missile. Something that is both easy and hard to drive, sounds like every petrol-fueled dream and drives smooth and refined. - The Ferrari 550 Maranello.
In 1996, the Ferrari 550 Maranello was presented to the public for the first time. A car that upheld many things, but also stopped pretending. For example, the hamster back seat of the 456 disappeared and made room for a luggage compartment. A real two-seater for long distances, with the temperament of an Italian who has just walked out of an espresso bar. The V12 of the 550 is actually – a bit bipolar. Underneath, it is a wonderful car to tour with and to drive comfortably. However, as soon as you call on the 5.5 V12, your golf bag in the back goes to 100 in 4.4 seconds and pulls through to 320 km/h. FORE!
And then about that big chrome gear lever in the middle... That is ultimately what we do it for.. Every time you move the beautiful gear lever along its aluminum guides, together with the typical 'clack-clack' sound when you change gear and hear the roar of the V12, you feel your chest hair grow. What a wonderful thoroughbred! Skip leg day at the gym from now on, the 550 will provide you with nice calves. God, those guys in Maranello can really make you forget your rationality.. Well-known even among test drivers and it was the Engine of the Year in 2000 and 2001 (4.0l +).
A total of 3,083 were born. And us? Of course we have one of those three thousand, but ours is a bit extra tasty. Just like a German car can be delivered in ‘Die Heimat’, this one was delivered in ‘La patria’, Italy. Bought by a real Italian. She does have a bit of German blood because the color is Argento Nurburgring. An iconic color for the 550 that suits her beautifully. She has been fully maintained and the history is complete. The previous owners have taken great care of her. The icing on the cake? The Barchetta wheels. If you want to change them, the originals are also included!
“The Ferrari is a dream. People dream of owning this special vehicle and for most, it will remain a dream apart from those lucky few.” – Enzo Ferrari.
