Daimler Double Six
Specifications
The story behind this collectible...
For those who just couldn't get enough of Jaguar's allure in the 1990s, there was always the higher specification in the form of the Daimler Double Six 5.3 V12 Series 3! Beginning in 1983, Series 3 models were restructured. The original Daimler Sovereign name was now used for luxury versions of the XJ6 4.2 liter and the XJ12. The two twelve-cylinder Daimler models, the HE and the Vanden Plas, were replaced by one model, the Double-Six. Therefore, from 1983 to 1992, the two twelve-cylinder models were the Jaguar Sovereign and the Daimler Double-Six. There were minor differences in the North American market, where only a single twelve-cylinder model was sold, with the Jaguar Van den Plas emblem but equipped on a standard similar to the Daimler. Later this was discontinued in the U.S. but remained available in Canada.
Towards the end of production, only about 1,500 Series 3 V12 cars were produced annually, as the most exclusive and expensive Jaguar & Daimler sedan models.
