- The E60 M5. It’s a faster piece. -
In 2003, BMW showed the fifth generation of the 5 Series. It had a distinctive design, lots of aluminum and, for that time, the very modern iDrive system. In 2005, the M5 of the E60 series was released. The last engine block of the M5 series that managed to achieve its power naturally aspirated.
BMW may have known this already; they built the 5.0 liter V10 block especially for the M5. Later, the power source was also used in the M6. The block delivers a bizarre 507 HP and 520 Nm of torque. With this, the business sedan goes to 100 in just 4.7 seconds and 200 in 9.2 seconds. It put its predecessor with ‘only’ 400 HP in a dark shadow. The V10 block gives us goosebumps on our arms, at 7750 rpm the ‘M-funf’ only makes use of all 507 M-horses and lets this be known with a modest cry. We say Eisenmann, but who are we.
Our M5 comes from a collection and has realised from the start that she was special. Apart from the fact that our M-er has been very well maintained, she has a manual gearbox! Exactly. Something with a roaring cherry on the cake. This M-icon deserves to be taken back into an enthusiast's heart! See you soon?
