In 1990, Alpina introduced the E31 B12 5.0 Coupé, based on the BMW 850i. The Grand Touring model was already a tremendous success for BMW, and this rarity quickly proved its worth among enthusiasts. Alpina always had its own vision, and they made significant technical modifications.
Alpina used different pistons, larger intake valves, a new exhaust system, and a slightly modified Bosch Motronic engine management system. The B12 5.0 was exclusively available with a four-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, Alpina refined the chassis, fitted 17-inch, twenty-spoke wheels, and extended the front spoiler. Optionally – and present on this car – is the well-known Alpina striping.
The mastermind behind this creation is genius Burkard Bovensiepen, who had a burning desire since 1962 to go beyond where BMW’s factory efforts ended. With an enormous focus on quality, Alpina impressed BMW so much with its Alpina kits in 1964 that BMW granted them factory warranty!
And ours?
