The Mercedes 230SL, affectionately called the "Pagode", owes its nickname to the unique hardtop that is reminiscent of Asian temple roofs. This design by Paul Bracq and Béla Barényi is not only a feast for the eyes, but also very functional. The slightly concave shape of the hardtop provides extra rigidity and safety, which was revolutionary at the time.
The Mercedes 230SL Pagode has also found its way to the silver screen. This car appeared in several films and TV series, including the famous James Bond film “You Only Live Twice” (1967). The design of the Pagode was an excellent choice for filmmakers who wanted to add a touch of class to their productions.
Our 1964 Mercedes 230SL is a beautiful example that has been lovingly maintained by a Mercedes specialist in the Netherlands. Given the originality of this example, it has been incredibly well-preserved, with technical improvements such as new Bilstein shock absorbers, a European rear axle and completely new brakes. This ensures that a trip to the Côte d’Azur does not feel like a ride in a classic car. Pretty nice, right? The car shines and is ready to put a smile on the face of every bystander.
Now it is time for this beauty to return the love. Are you ready?
