Chevrolet Corvette C7 Stingray
Specifications
If you’ve wanted a ‘Vette’ since you were a kid, you’ve waited long enough. –
Pfffff. Naaaa… Tsssss…. Pooh !!!! More vocabulary was not available when she was driven off the trailer at our Clubhuys… A very thick 6.2 litre V8 ‘small block’ with about 466 HP, 610 nm of torque, open roof and a manual 7-speed. Do we need to say more?
Because the C6 was actually a C5 with ‘a new coat’, the C7 Vette was very much looked forward to. A child of GMC who only took over two parts from his predecessor. The completely new aluminium chassis provided an American that could finally turn corners, an interior that was finally not made of the type of plastic that we in the EU don’t even want our lunchbox made of, and last but not least, an optional manual! (Up yours, Ferrari…)
Under the slogan; stealing things well instead of inventing them badly, Corvette looked at Nissan. They had SynchroRev, which brought it up to the right revs for the next gear or when driving off. This saves a lot of clutch, especially for their average target group… But, this also works fine on a roaring small block V8, just before that little tunnel… You get the picture. Rev-Matching enabled!
Thanks to Greta we now pay three times the amount for the Vette in the Netherlands compared to the price in the USA. Fortunately, with a few kilometres and a few years she is a lot friendlier to the wallet. And then the colour composition; Shadow Grey Metallic, yellow brakes, black accents and four chrome trumpets… A Ferrari killer for a third of the price! Will we see you soon?
