The story behind this collectible...
- La meccanica delle emozioni -
The days are getting short, the leaves are off the trees and in the morning the diesels have trouble waking up; we are already suffering from pre-spring jitters! Or rather: convertible jitters! And we would like to answer those for our (new) club members. One of the most Cool Classic convertibles is the Alfa Romeo Spider 1.6 Duetto. A car that evokes sentimental feelings for many!
Especially the Alfa 1600 engines are almost unsurpassable in terms of sound for a four-cylinder. Very reactive, yet comfortable and when you release the throttle just before a bend, the beautiful afterburner. La vita è così bella con un'Alfa Romeo!
The Spider has been made for no less than 27 years and eventually came in four 'different jackets'. Our Spider comes from the first generation; the Spider Duetto. An Alfa for the Alfist; recognizable by its beautiful teardrop shape, double headlights and fierce character. In the factory, the Pininfarina body quickly acquired the nickname Osso di Seppia; the backshell of a squid. We think Mr Pininfarina stubbed his toe on a walk along the beach while designing the Alfa.
Apart from the Italian flair and technique, this Spider is extra unique; it is an original German delivered Spider that is fairly fully documented. Moreover, she was fully restored and reconditioned recently; the arguments that also answer your rational thoughts! She is looking for her new appassionato and can't wait to go topless again. By the way, she does have a hardtop! Are we waiting for spring, or will we see you soon? A presto!
