A car everyone knows — and every child can draw with ease. Over the years, it has grown into a true icon, and rightfully so. What this car has set in motion is nothing short of legendary. The adventures lived with Defenders will be told for generations to come.
But there's a flip side. In modern cities, the latest Defenders are mostly seen parked in upscale neighborhoods, squeezed between the espresso bar and the fishmonger, bumper to bumper. Thankfully, the Brits once looked beyond the urban façade.
To celebrate Land Rover's 50th anniversary, they released a rare and highly sought-after limited edition in 1998: the Defender 90 V8 50th Anniversary. Only 1,071 units were built worldwide, making this a true collector’s Defender. Your move, neighbor!
This particular example was delivered new in the Netherlands in the stunning Atlantis Blue metallic, complete with both an internal and external roll cage, and as the cherry on top: a factory V8 with automatic transmission. Each unit is individually numbered—this one is NL 013. First registered in the Netherlands in 1998, and it has remained here ever since. Solid? Absolutely. And as you’d expect—everything checks out.
Since 2006, maintenance has been carried out annually and without compromise by Kroymans Hilversum, fully documented. Notably, it has had regular vacation check-ups, so it has thankfully seen its share of adventure.
This Defender is begging to be used for what it was built for: take it off-road without hesitation. But it also feels perfectly at home as part of a serious collection.
The choice is yours.
Polish it… or take it on an adventure?
