Het verhaal achter deze...
A six speed and one powerful letter. Be the bully.
The BMW M2. The only one of the 2-series branch that does not fall under the Gran Divorce kind. Short ass with ducktail, wide hips, all the power on the rear wheels which is provided by the iconic six-in-line. This time with two boosters, which makes the Bavarian horses pedal extra hard. Sideways, that is.
Fortunately after, a rather "steep learning curve" for BMW-M with the SMG transmissions, in the M2 came the updated M DCT. The first in which we don't miss the manual shifter! That combined with the DSC system. A system which, as long as you don't make the steering angle too generous, guides you to make side trips. Something that makes any home-grown dad look like Ken Block. If you dare.
The very lofty claim of "best driving BMW ever made" is just true. Yes, this drives even more fun than the 1M or E30 M3. Something that, in an era with Greta, Dyson three cylinders, resonance speakers for perception and other fakes, we don't really see anymore. Everything used to be better, except at BMW. There you drive a thoroughbred, but with Apple CarPlay and your GoPro app on the display, so you capture those sub-8 minutes at the Nurnberg.
Ours? Yes. Extra nice. Fully M Performance equipped, which made her even fatter, gave her more Carbon, bigger brakes and, above all, even more speed! Although, at 270 km/h instead of 250 km/h, she's still edgy. Black on black, the thick alcantara steering wheel with LEDs that flash when you snarl the Performance pipes. Goosebumps!!!
Luxury just lost its manners. Will we see you soon?
