The story behind this collectible...

After seven years in the possession of the last owner, he has now decided to sell the bus. During these years the bus has been fully restored to a unique campervan. The owner has put a lot of emphasis on creating a tasteful interior, so that the bus can confidently be called a Tiny House.

On a technical level, the bus has also been rebuilt in a particularly solid way. The chassis and bodywork have been well taken care of, resulting in a beautiful new final paint. Two years ago, a newly overhauled engine was installed, which has not run more than 3000 km since then. In addition, the wiring has been completely renewed, with an intelligent household circuit and solar panel. The crowning glory is the beautifully finished bamboo interior: taking a seat on the back seat guarantees feelings of falling in love with this wonderful van.

The left and right sills, front axle, seat belt points left and right, jack supports left front, left rear and right front have been welded and repaired. The cab doors have been replaced, all window, door rubbers and other rubbers (such as the filler neck) have been renewed, the gutter completely renewed and re-glued, some window moldings have been replaced and the plates where the batteries are placed have been renewed. A new Fiamma skylight was also installed a few years ago, and cool yellow fog lights were mounted on the bumper. The bottom is well protected from rust by a two-layer RX5-RX10 treatment.

In 2017, a newly overhauled 1600 engine was installed, with extra large oil sump for better cooling. Also a new carburetor, pressure plate and clutch plates. The starter motor and alternator were overhauled and the contact points were replaced with a Petronix ignition. The engine compartment is completely covered with 40mm thick Merfocell sound insulation, which makes it very pleasant to talk to the co-driver and listen to music while driving on the highway.

New steering rack, new front tires in 2018, new rear shock absorbers. In 2013 the kingpins and the brakes were overhauled.

Intelligent relay between starter battery and house battery, Battery Protect which prevents battery drain, nicely designed control panel in the kitchenette, flexible 100W solar panel, WAECO compressor fridge, Victron battery charger connected to shore power plug, 12V-230V Victron inverter, ground switches and 100A fuses on both batteries, 4 new speakers (both in the cabdoors and in the back of the van), and "normal" 230V socket. The lighting consists of 2 Touch-dim LED ceiling spots and a vintage pendant lamp with economical LED bulb.

The interior is completely custom made, with a very efficient layout. By combining pure bamboo, laminated bamboo and plywood, weight has been kept low but it has the look and feel of a solid boat interior. The wood is finished with several coats of hard parquet varnish, which gives it good protection against moisture. The floor, sidewalls and doors are fully lined with anti-drumming boards and 10mm thermal insulation. Also included is a set of window insulation mats for colder nights and blackout. In the same style as the interior, there is a handy center console between the front seats, which provides practical storage space while driving, as well as room for the indispensable cupholders. Underneath the rock-n-roll fold-out bed, which is long enough for people over 2 meters, are handy tool drawers and a nicely concealed spot for the jack. Included with the van is a roll-up slatted bed and custom-made top mattress, providing optimum sleeping comfort. The bus has a lot of closet space, in a way that makes the living area particularly spacious.

Nicely concealed in the kitchen block is a gas stove, which can be removed so you can cook outside when staying somewhere longer. There is also a sink with a tap, which is connected to a refillable water tank. Against the side wall of the high roof is a wooden surfboard holder built (the surfboard is not included!), with underneath over the entire length narrow planters, where (succulent) plants can be placed, but which of course also can be used as storage or magazine holder.

The bus is equipped with a bright 3rd brake light, which is no superfluous luxury in modern traffic considering the small tail lights. The disc brakes at the front wheels make the car safe for a vehicle of this age. Both batteries are equipped with a mass key, which simplifies disconnection of the batteries in winter, as well as making the bus less prone to theft. The built-in laptop safe in the center console and the included pedal lock also contribute to this. The front seats are equipped with German A-grade 3-point seat belts. The rear seat has a 2-point harness and 3-point belt, allowing a child seat to be safely mounted.

various spare parts.

Also included is a beautiful light green bus tent that can be put against the bus, but also can stand on its own.

The bus has been serviced several times by recognized classic VW companies, such as Volksrepairs in Rotterdam and Bus Brothers in Nijkerk. All invoices and photos of the work are present. The bus is really built to live and travel in for a long time, with an emphasis on style and robustness. She is a top Volkswagen bus and in this form can last for years without a care in the world. An absolute eye-catcher, whose many details continue to amaze and inspire.
