The story behind this collectible...
- If you’ve wanted a ‘Vette’ since you were a kid, you’ve waited long enough. -
Pfffff. Naaaa.. Tsssss…. Pooh !!! We didn’t have more vocabulary available when she was driven off the trailer at our Clubhouse… A very fat 6.2 liter V8 'small block' with approximately 466 hp, 610 nm of torque, open roof and a manual 7-speed gearbox. Do we need to say more?
Because the C6 was actually a C5 with ‘a new coat of paint’, the C7 Vette was eagerly awaited. A child of GMC that only took over two parts from its predecessor. The completely new aluminum chassis ensured an American that could finally also go around the corner, an interior that was finally not made of the type of plastic that we in the EU don’t even want our lunchbox made of and last but not least, an optional manual gearbox! (Up yours, Ferrari…)
Under the motto; stealing things well instead of thinking badly, Corvette copied from Nissan. They had SynchroRev, which brought the four-cylinder to the right speed for the next gear or when driving away. Saves a lot of clutch, certainly for their average target group… But, this also works fine on a roaring small block V8, just before that tunnel.. You get it. Rev-Matching enabled!
Thanks to Greta, we now pay three times the price for the Vette in the Netherlands compared to the price in the USA. Fortunately, with a few kilometers and a few years, she is a lot friendlier to the wallet. The price includes VAT excluding BPM. And then the color combination; Shadow Gray Metallic, yellow brakes, black accents and four chrome trumpets.. A Ferrari killer for a third of the price! See you soon?
