The story behind this collectible...
- Eleganza in movimento -
The Alfa Romeo Nuova Super 1300. A thoroughbred Italian born to seduce the "sporty" fathers of the family. Every time the howler gets a chance to burn some after, you feel your chest hair growing, this is true Italian passion! The double overhead camshafts give the 1300 block plenty of power; 103 hp for 1000 pounds.
In the years when Lancia, Fiat and Alfa Romeo were still fighting each other out of business, Alfa Romeo was the cart puller in the field of small sporty cars. The nimbleness of the Alfa Romeo Giulia is at its best when you steer the car quickly through tight corners. In doing so, not very tall drivers are unfortunately forced into a somewhat strange, wide-legged seating position. The pedals hang a little too far away in the footwell and the beautiful wooden steering wheel has the dimensions of a ship's wheel. Oh well, it's part of the charm of a characterful Italian. An Italian like this Giulia 1300 Super, which from 1972 on looks even more beautiful thanks to the double round headlights.
Ours is from Italy and has only known two owners so far. With her original booklets and Italian registration, this is one to be cherished. And so far she is; unrestored and yet no rust at all. That is quite special for an Italian from that time. The carabinieri also drove these Alfas at the time, without the inner headlights, which were made of mesh. Who comes to see it at our Clubhouse? Bring your sunglasses and stick-on mustache, for the way back.
