"Look at it this way: it’s either an expensive sports car or a very reasonable racecar."

Het verhaal achter deze collectible...

A Porsche that sharpens every one of your senses: the Porsche 930 Turbo. Among enthusiasts, it is famously known as the Widowmaker. Why the Widow? Because this ‘neunelfer’, in addition to its exceptional 3.0-litre boxer engine, is equipped with a substantial turbo. The 911S was already renowned for its dual personality. You could cruise in comfort, but the moment you demanded power from the boxer, you had to be fully attentive, with the majority of the weight resting over the rear axle.

The name Widowmaker should already set the senses alight, yet the car is not truly “dangerous.” After all, Ferdinand Porsche himself presented the very first 930 Turbo to his daughter, Louise Piech. The recognition of this fiery 911’s potential is far from modest. Perhaps the 911 Turbo lineage mirrors the life of a typical artist: it began (with the 930) wild and untamed, leaving many deeply impressed and occasionally sprawled in the hedgerows. Today, after decades of refinement, structure, and balance, they are more controlled, less eccentric, and the experience is somewhat “tamer.”

At the time, the 930 Turbo was a direct competitor to the Lamborghini Countach and Ferrari 365 GT4 BB. With a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 4.8 seconds, it remains an incredibly rapid car even today. Following the announcement of its production, Porsche was inundated with orders and reservations. The initial plan to produce 500 “first editions” was immediately doubled to 1,000. Ultimately, just under 18,000 units were delivered worldwide, leaving many early customers eager to secure one.

And it is precisely one of those 500 “first edition” examples that we now have in our showroom! Originally delivered in Germany and residing in the Netherlands since 1991, its stamped service booklets confirm the original mileage. Special features include the turbo stripes on the rear, gold-lettered Porsche logos on the doors, and rare gold-painted wheels—perfectly capturing the retro, audacious spirit of Porsche engineers in the 1970s.

There is so much more to tell, and we warmly invite serious collectors to submit an enquiry about this truly remarkable piece of automotive history.
