Mercedes-Benz 280SL R107

Het verhaal achter deze...
The Mercedes Benz 280SL R107, sporty, light, but a solid luxury that only our eastern neighbours understand. The new SL was introduced in 1971 and was a huge sales success from the start. That wasn't really very logical actually. At the time, the car was more expensive than a Ferrari 246GT Dino, and twice as expensive as the Jaguar E-type. Where the car naturally depreciated considerably at the time, it has proven to be a good investment in recent years.
As a classic, we think the car is doing great, value for money. Actually, we at the Cool Classic Club are crazy about these cars, because they tick so many boxes. Perfect 6-in-line, beautiful chrome, seventies interior design, enough space and super reliable technology. A modern driving feel while you drive around in a seventies icon. And then ours. Exactly the way you want it. It concerns an EU spec 280SL delivered in Florida in 1985.
These Americans didn't feel like all the fuss and therefore ordered a European version. The car remained with the same owner until 2015 before it ended up on Dutch soil. There, the owner made the car completely tiptop again for over 6000 euros and as a result the car drives exceptionally well. We don't see them like this very often. Can it get any better? Yes, certainly! This is one of the last models produced and therefore equipped with all further developments. Simply put, a classic with the driving behaviour of a youngtimer. Not to mention the colour... See you soon?
