France, late 1950s.
Charles Aznavour first starts singing his heart out when a car model is introduced that hits like a bomb. ‘La bombe Citroën’ sold 80,000 cars in the first week, and would be produced 1.5 million times in the following 20 years. Flaminio Bertoni’s design of the Citroën is groundbreaking and is still much praised and wins many awards today. The car is also praised on a technical level for its driving characteristics and low centre of gravity, and because of this and its shape it gets its nickname ‘the iron’.
