The story behind this collectible...
Your mum won't like it - MG B V8
The MG B. A car we -not immediately- get very excited about. Rear leaf springs with drums and a heavy cast-iron four-pit, we'll skip it. Yet, before the arrival of the MX5, it was the most built sports car in the world! So we forced ourselves to take another look; after all, there aren't that many Brexit aristocrats.
After a closer look, we understood a bit better; In '73, a Rover V8 was fitted to the B. With its 135 polo horses, this was not necessarily fast, but it was much better for the ear! Also, the 8-pitter was -bizarre enough- 27 kilos lighter than the 4!
Nowadays, we (fortunately) can't get enough of Restomods. Equivalent to the baby of Elvis Presley and Dutch influencer Monica Geuze, best of both times. And that is exactly what the previous owner did to our MG B V8. How? Uncle John Eales delivered a 5.0 litre, with drysump so it's nice and warm. Something with modified cylinder heads, light flywheel and Cosworth gearbox. End result? Poh, what a handsome baby! 375 HP, atmospheric from the front, through marrow and bone, to the back. What is this raw and pure! Now looking for a new Steve McQueen. Will we see you soon?
