AC Cobras have become almost unaffordable – and rightly so. It’s an icon.
But what do you do if you want to experience that magic, without compromising on power, engineering, and reliability?
That is exactly the question they asked themselves at Gardner Douglas. Not to build a replica, but an evolution. Faster. Stiffer. Technically more refined. A Cobra as it was always meant to be.
This 1994 Gardner Douglas Cobra Mk3 is a high-quality British interpretation of the legendary AC Cobra 427 (Mk III). Gardner Douglas is known for its exceptional chassis, solid build quality, and serious driving dynamics.
And this particular example?
It has been taken to the next level. In 2024, a full technical restoration was started and completed in the autumn of 2025. The focus was entirely on engineering and mechanical perfection.
Starting with a fully rebuilt Chevrolet 350 – 5.7L V8,
paired with a Tremec T5 5-speed gearbox.
Further equipped with:
– Adjustable SPAX rear dampers
– Stainless steel fuel tank
– Dual chrome roll bars
– Bucket seats
– Fittipaldi steering wheel
– Sabelt harnesses
Over €22,000 has demonstrably been invested in the recent rebuild alone. Invoices available.
The focus has been entirely on mechanical performance and engineering. Cosmetically, there are a few minor points of attention; the paintwork is somewhat dated.
But this is not a car for display in a showcase. This is a Cobra for someone who wants to drive.
A tap on the throttle.
The nose moves subtly and the rear begins to wag. And now it’s in your hands.
Do you dare to wake it up?
