What secret agents have to do with martinis
The Cool Classic Club and Aston Martin go together like caviar and toast, a bow tie on a tuxedo, or – our personal favorite – a secret agent and his martini. Let’s be honest: no one blends style and sophistication quite as effortlessly as Aston Martin, with that irresistible touch of Bond magic.
As avid fans of the Bond films, we’re thrilled to dive into the gems of the Aston Martin lineup, showcasing the genius creativity of Q himself. Don’t worry, though – our models come standard without ejector seats or rocket launchers. Unless, of course, your passenger is really annoying… then we might be able to work something out.
A great Bond film without a legendary car is like a martini without the shake – just not good enough. We’ve got the full Bond garage served on a silver platter. Buckle up – here come the ultimate rides of MI6’s most charming secret agent!
Aston Martin DB5 (1964)
When you think of a James Bond car, the Aston Martin DB5 is the first that comes to mind. Originally, the filmmakers considered the DB Mark III, but they opted for the brand-new DB5 instead, released just three months prior.
This is the Swiss Army knife of cars: ejector seats, machine guns, smoke screens, and, of course, tire slashers. And the looks? Villains swoon over them. Bond took this beauty for a spin in classics like Goldfinger (1964) and Skyfall (2012), all the way to the latest blockbuster, No Time to Die (2021).
Engine: DOHC Straight-6, 4.0 L
Power: 282-325 HP
Films: Thunderball, GoldenEye, Casino Royale, and more
Aston Martin DBS (1969)
George Lazenby had the privilege of playing 007 in what fans consider one of the best Bond films, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (1969). But with triumph came heartbreak: Bond’s newlywed wife was tragically gunned down in the DBS.
Bonus points for the telescopic rifle hidden in the glovebox – a gadget that’s like a vintage cupholder but far deadlier.
Engine: 4.0 L Straight-6
Power: 286 HP
Fun Fact: This was the last car built under the ownership of David Brown (yes, the “DB” in the name).
Aston Martin V8 Vantage Volante (1985)
George Lazenby was history, and Timothy Dalton made his debut as Bond in The Living Daylights (1987). Dalton brought Bond back to basics in this Aston, which was basically a weapons cache on wheels. Lasers, rockets, steel spikes, and a self-destruct system – everything you need to secure your parking spot at the supermarket.
Engine: 5.3 L V8
Power: 370 HP
Films: Featured in The Living Daylights, with a nostalgic return in No Time to Die.
Aston Martin V12 Vanquish (2002)
Also known as “the invisible car,” this futuristic marvel debuted in Die Another Day. With stealth mode activated, Bond literally disappeared from sight – although his enemies weren’t fooled, using heat sensors to track him down. Style points for effort, though. After a thrilling seven-minute chase, Bond escaped, as always.
Engine: 5.9 L V12
Power: 460 HP
Gadget Highlight: Abracadabra, I’m gone!
Aston Martin DBS V12 (2006)
Daniel Craig’s Bond brought the DBS roaring back in Casino Royale (2006). No lasers or invisibility cloaks here – just raw, unfiltered power. In a heart-pounding chase, the car flipped seven times to avoid hitting Vesper Lynd, who was tied up on the road. (Ouch.) Thankfully, the producers had ten DBS models at their disposal – although they managed to wreck seven. That’s got to hurt for Aston Martin fans.
Engine: 5.9 L V12
Power: 510 HP
Films: Casino Royale & Quantum of Solace
Aston Martin DBS Superleggera (2020)
In No Time to Die, the DBS made a stylish comeback, this time driven by Nomi, the new 007. Bond needed backup, and this beauty delivered. No gadgets necessary – with 715 HP and a 0-100 km/h acceleration in 3.4 seconds, this car is a gadget in itself.
Aston Martin Valhalla (2022)
Technically, it only appeared in Q’s lab in No Time to Die, but wow – what a machine! With 950 HP and a 0-100 km/h acceleration of just 2.5 seconds, one glance at this beast screams: it deserves a starring role in the next Bond film.
