Big news with a stiff upper lip!

Our 1930 Rolls-Royce Phantom II Pullman Limousine de Ville Long Wheelbase by Barker – a name so long you almost need a wheelbase of your own just to catch your breath – has won a prize at the Concours d’Elegance Mariënwaerdt!

In the prestigious class 100 Years of Rolls-Royce Phantom, she competed with the finest and most extraordinary Phantoms spanning a century of history. The result? Runner-up! A beautiful second place and an honorable recognition.

For those who don’t immediately picture her:

“Quite possibly the most imposing presence in our showroom: the 1930 Rolls-Royce Phantom II Pullman Limousine de Ville Long Wheelbase by Barker. A mouthful, but as befits a noble automobile, she carries a noble title.

The car is unrestored. Much of the paint is still completely original, as is the upholstery. Every accessory and feature listed in the factory and Barker papers is still present and functioning. She’s a true travel-sleeper car: with two hand cranks, the rear bench can be converted into a bed.

The chassis left the factory on May 29th, 1930 and was immediately sent to Barker. By July 30th, the car was ready, and on August 2nd of that same year, she was delivered to her first owner.

Her history has been fully documented by the previous owner – more than 500 pages filled with photos, stories, letters, and anecdotes. Each of the 11 owners has their own chapter. Widows, children of former owners, and the very addresses where the car once resided – all were traced and visited. Switzerland, Monaco, France, England, and Spain: all part of her journey. That history can also be read from the badge bar at the front. One badge, for example, comes from RAF Blackbushe Airport – a chapter of its own.

And the owners? As colorful as the car itself. From a London club owner married to an actress (and co-inventor of the ejector seat!) to a cheerful baron who drank nothing but champagne.

In short: this is not a car – this is a time machine. Everything is right: the original ivory switches, the curtains, the accessories, and all the mechanics still faithfully doing their job. The jury at the Concours d’Elegance Mariënwaerdt thought so too, and awarded her a prize in the 100 Years of Rolls-Royce Phantom class. A very well-deserved award indeed.

We could talk about her for hours and we’re more than happy to, with anyone interested.”

We are incredibly proud of our Phantom. As said: she truly deserves it. Now, all that’s left is to find her a new owner!
