Jaguar XJS 5.3 V12 Convertible
Specifications
The Jaguar XJS. A car that had a big and almost impossible task; following up on the E-type. The XJS showed clear character changes compared to its predecessor. Where the E-type distanced itself from sportiness, the XJS placed a high priority on comfort. However, speed was not forgotten; whereas the E-type only became available with the 12 cylinder much later, the XJS was immediately fitted with Jaguar’s well-known 5.3 litre V12 engine.
The manual gearbox was available for a while, but given the focus on luxury and comfort, it quickly disappeared. The V12 (Mark II) provided pretty good specifications with 296 hp. The Jag drives up to 100 in 6.3 seconds and has a top speed of over 250 km/h. Besides the technical improvements of the Mark II, the exterior was also refreshed with chrome on the bumpers, new rims and wood inlays for the interior.
Our Jaguar XJS convertible is a true original Dutch delivered enthusiast car and has been owned by the second (!) owner to date. The first convertibles were built by an American company called Hess & Eisenhardt. This because Jaguar itself could not manage to build a decent convertible. After 1988 Jaguar dared to do it itself and came up with an even better convertible construction than its earlier variants. This together with the few kilometers (111,923 km), fully traceable history and state; A unique driver’s car that certainly belongs in our Cool Classics collection!
