Jaguar Etype S1 FHC
A Cool Classic of the Cool Classics: the Jaguar E-type Series 1 4.2 Coupe. Our Series 1 FHC is nut and bolt restored and has been given all the upgrades that the Series 1 knew at the time of production. This was namely one of the last series 1 models.
The complete restoration has been documented. Invoices present (more than 80 thousand euros). In addition to its excellent condition, the car has its original gearbox and engine, which makes it a matching numbers. This can also be checked, the E-type is provided with a Jaguar Trust Certificate.
In addition to the extensive documentation, new condition and execution, this Jag is executed in one of the (we think) most beautiful color compositions. Black with a cognac brown leather interior.
The E-type Series I was introduced in Europe on March 15, 1961 at the Geneva Motor Show and in the United States in April that same year at the New York Motor Show. When the car was first shown, Enzo Ferrari called it ‘The most beautiful car ever made’. He is right to this day!
The car was designed as a two-seater GT coupe (FHC) and a two-seater convertible (OTS). In the first half year, only a few E-types were built with the steering wheel on the left-hand side, mainly for the American market. Only a few were built for the British market and delivered to specially selected celebrities. The rest had to wait half a year.
The Series 1 received a 3.8-liter 6-in-line engine that came from the XK150S. In 1964 the engine capacity was increased to 4.2 liters. With this upgrade the Series 1 4.2 got a top speed of 241 km / h (!).
All E-types received independent wheel suspension and power-assisted disc brakes on the four wheels, two unusual features for the time. The 3.8 l versions had a centrally placed instrument panel made of aluminum, which was produced in vinyl and leather from 1963 onwards.
The 4.2 versions had more comfortable seats, improved brakes, electronics and Synchromesh on first gear. Furthermore, the 4.2 Jaguar carried the 4.2 Liter emblem on the back of the boot lid, while the 3.8 simply mentioned Jaguar.Ik ben geïnteresseerd in dit object
